Young Adults Spotlight
By Ashley Cook

Theologian John Wesley said, “I set myself on fire and people come to watch me burn.” Here at the Crossing Life Church, The Young Adult Group — lead by Brian and Laura Messina, Craig Houle, and Sarah Beliveau — has begun to learn and understand what it means to burn and the effects have been seen, noticed, and evident.

For the young adults, this means to grow in intentional relationship with one another and the surrounding community, creating a welcoming place for new people to come and experience more of God and, as Craig Houle noted, “starting to have a real hunger for God, holiness, and sanctification.”

Seeped in prayer and deep intention, Sarah Beliveau says “there’s a lot of intentionality right now… Craig has felt very deeply about being more intentional evangelistically, and I’m very good at relationships… We just want more, that’s the goal.”

More of God and what He’s doing in our midst, more of the spreading and infilling of that deep love He desires to fill others with.

“We have the gazebo, fire pit, volleyball court… We’re intentional about sharing life and building genuine relationship with one another in a natural way that brings people into life,” Houle says.

“We’re seeing new people come in, and it’s a unique experience where they are not experiencing the normal what you would with a bunch of twenty-something’s. They’re experiencing God, and it’s really cool,” Beliveau observed.

Desiring to be a beacon of direction in a world full of confusion and doubt, Laura Messina comments, “People actually find their lives and lose themselves because they are done with their old way of life. It’s awesome to see people become who they’re supposed to be.”

Houle recalls his firsthand experience, “I fell in love with every person. It made sense to be here…”

In encountering God, the young adults are taking hold of deep repentance — turning away from sins that are now in the light — and finding a love they’ve never known, joy they’ve never experienced, and a peace that blows their minds.

The Young Adult’s group meets every Tuesday for Fire, Fellowship, and Fun at The Foster’s House at 6:30. If you are between the ages of 18-30, come check us out – email Laura Messina for more information at messinanc@gmail.com
