Encounter Weekend Testimonies

Melissa Hagan’s Testimony:

This past women’s encounter I went hungry and willing to seek the Lord. Seeing how this was my 6th encounter you would think I would be pretty aware of what to expect. If you have ever gone through one you would know the Holy Spirit always has different plans. I was hungry to know my identity. I went expecting to break generational curses and willing to let every tear roll down my face day after day. At the cross session I had to repent for the unbelief I carried with me. Praying for my daughter to be healed but also holding unbelief in my heart was damaging. As I repented and asked God for forgiveness all I could think was “I want to serve the Lord with a heart that believes, a heart filled with the Truth of the gospel, not to be a lukewarm Christian”. I nailed all the sin that I was harboring in my heart to the cross. I picked up my new name, walked back to my seat and read it. It said “Servant of God”! I said “WOW He loves me!” He knows me and with that I am ready, ready to do what HE has called me to do for HIS Kingdom! God has healed my heart, washed away my sins and calls me his own.

John Bolan’s Testimony:

At the time of the Men’s Encounter, the one thing God highlighted for me to repent of was self-reliance.  For the past several months (and even now), I am believing God to continue to change my heart to love Him above everyone and everything else – that He has no competitors for the throne of my heart.  I’m also believing Him to help me to perform and serve others better at my work.

Prior to the Men’s Encounter, I believed that the Holy Spirit lived in me.  Thus as a natural outworking of this (just like how breathing in naturally transmits oxygen into the blood), the simple phenomenon of the Holy Spirit being within me would automatically translate into having the heart for God that I desired and a noticeable improvement in my work performance; God wanted me to see a better way.  While the Holy Spirit does live in me, He indicated that He wanted me to seek Him daily for the changes, growth and improvements I was believing Him for.  Said more simply, that in seeking Him daily, that He would change my heart and bring about the changes I was looking for.

The parable of the talents is true insofar as it’s God Himself that gives the increase, the change, and the transformation that makes those talents turn into anything more than what they were when they started. Even the desire to align to God comes from God (much less getting better at my work).

So in short, God challenged my notion of maturity and growth to the effect of seeking Him daily for these and other things – that when they come, I will know that I know that the changes and improvements came because I sought HIM for what I couldn’t produce in myself.

Praise God.
