Changed by His Love: A Testimony of God's Heart

“I was one way and now I am completely different. And the thing that happened in between was Him.”  If you’ve experienced the deep love of our Father, this line from The Chosen likely struck a chord.

Encounter God Weekends are a vital part of our community as a time to revisit the Cross and receive the love of God afresh. From the Encounter experience, we hear incredible testimonies of God’s love and faithfulness towards us. And, we see the impact on the Church as our friends and family walk in one way and walk out “completely different.”

This month, Kaitlyn Arsenault attended the Women’s Encounter and was met by God in a way that only He could. Read her story and celebrate:

I went to the Women’s Encounter to get my daughter to go. My first encounter was 14 years ago. I grew up in the church where my Dad was the pastor. When I got married 16 years ago, we started going to the Crossing.

Five years ago, I went through a traumatic experience that completely wrecked me. I was so angry at God for allowing this to happen to me. I allowed the enemy to destroy my identity and let his lies become my new identity. I left the Crossing and told my husband, “I don’t want my kids growing up in the Church serving God just to have Him disappoint them.” I felt completely forgotten by God.

Over the last three years, God slowly worked on my heart… I mean slowly. We started coming back to the Crossing in April. My mother-in-law mentioned that my daughter Bella was old enough to go to the Encounter and I said I would go with her if she wanted. I had hardened my heart so much that I expected nothing, but I wanted so badly for her to be freed from the anxiety that she had been really struggling with.

During the session on sin, a lightbulb came on for me as I heard, “your response to trauma can be the very thing that lets sin in.” I knew my response to my trauma caused gateways for the enemy to wreak havoc in not only my life but my family’s life.

I had built up so many walls thinking God had forgotten me but just the action of me going to the Encounter sent a wave of His love that I had never felt before. When I read my prophetic letter the second line was “You have and never will be forgotten.”

When I got my new name at the Cross, I really didn’t have any idea what it could have meant until I went up for prayer during the last session on closing the door. Weslea and Casey prayed over me and Weslea said she heard God say that He will give back what was stolen from me and through my healing, my family will also be healed. My new name? Justice.
My daughter Bella has dealt with anxiety for the past couple of years. She was very hesitant to get up for prayer the first night – but by Saturday night, she was jumping up even before I did.

She said she felt God freed her from anxiety and it definitely showed when she was dancing Saturday night at the dance party! If I had gotten nothing from this weekend, that–seeing her–would have been worth it. Of course, God was after my heart as well.

To say this weekend changed me is an understatement. I have been a Christian my whole life and have never felt God in a more personal and real way than I did this weekend.
